I LOVE this race. I’ve run this race 3 times total and every time I love it more. Sure running with 12,000 people on the tiny streets of Boston isn’t the most fun…example the first turn from Charles St. to Beacon St. yikes!
And YES most of the corporate heads have no idea how to crowd run (i.e. elebow throwing is not only rude it’s hurtful). And YES, you do spend a lot of time walogging (pronounced: wa-logg-ing and that’s walking/jogging) at first and sometimes you are people dodging (get out of my way slow pokes).
BUT I LOVE this race. It may be because its at the end of a work day and so people just seem to be slap happy. It may be because people walking around the area on a June night are completely dumb founded when they see the massive crowd of runners. It may be because there is always the guy who lives in a uber expensive brownstone who brings his hose out to spray people down along the course. I dunno. I love it.
Ran this year in 30:33 which I know isn’t a PR for me but since I cannot seem to find my other 5K times (ease up I just started keeping track of that stuff) it will have to sufice as my PR time. Afterward I enjoyed Yasso Greek Yogurt pop (new obsession) and a banana.
It’s just a good way to spend a Thursday night in June.
